Dr. B. C. Roy Kriti Samman 2025 Honors Environmental HeroesOn June 13, 2025, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur, celebrated its Silver Jubilee with the “Dr. B. C. Roy Kriti Samman” at Dulal Mitra Auditorium. Four environmental champions were honored: Padma Shri Mr. Dukhu Majhi (‘Gachh Baba’) for planting thousands of trees in Purulia, Paschimbanga Vigyan Mancha for promoting scientific and environmental awareness, Dr. Subhabrata Roychaudhuri for advancing public science education, and Mr. Shyamapada Bandyopadhyay (‘Gachh Dadu’) for afforestation in Bankura.The event featured a cultural performance by Mr. Somnath Banerjee’s team, a welcome address by Principal Dr. Sanjay S. Pawar, and felicitations by Mr. Tarun Bhattacharya and other Society members. Awardees encouraged tree planting and conservation. Durgapur’s Divisional Forest Officer, Mr. Anupam Khan, attended. The ceremony ended with the National Anthem, followed by tree planting on campus. Two B.Tech students, Gaurav Kumar and Pritam, were also recognized for securing Ph.D. positions at IIT BHU
